Multiple outlets report that Jey Uso was arrested for DWI following a WWE live event in Hidalgo, Tx. In which they faced off against The bludgeon brothers and the team of Rusev and Aiden English in a triple-threat match.
The WWE released a statement:
“Joshua Fatu (real name of Jey Uso) is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials.”
This is not the first time one of the Usos was arrested for impaired driving. TMZ reports that Jimmy Uso was arrested for dui in 2011 and driving with a suspended license.
The Usos, sons of retired legend Rikishi, are the current Smackdown tag team champions. The Usos have held tag team titles five times, including most recently, and are scheduled to defend the titles against Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin at the Royal Rumble pay per view.
The WWE has a history of punishing wrestlers for legal or professional transgressions by booking them to lose. WWE insiders report that Baron Corbin, who recently lost his Money in the Bank briefcase, was originally booked to cash it in successfully and become World Champion. But Corbin apparently angered WWE officials with is public feud with wrestling commenter Dave Meltzer.
The WWE does not announce, nor publicly acknowledge, changes in booking and it is currently unknown whether or not The Usos will lose their titles over the arrest.
