Comedy is a very difficult genre to do well, especially with written prose.
“Sparkle’s Law” by AestheticB deserves to be at the very top of the fan fanfiction rankings. With 34,000 views and over 1,000 likes, it’s certainly not doing bad.
At just under 18,000 words, a little under novella length, “Sparkle’s Law” tells the entire story in one sitting rather than breaking apart into chapters. With six ponies to keep track of, most writers would not be able to weave all of these stories together in such an organic way, but AestheticB pulls it off.
As for the comedy, “Sparkle’s Law” is one of the few prose stories that can make me laugh out loud. And not just once or twice, the story keeps punching out great comedy through the entire story.
